NSC, Curbs Federations Right to Bid for International Competitions.

The bidding for hosting of any international competitions must be on the approval of the National Sports Commission (NSC).
The order was read yesterday (Tuesday) by the chairman of the NSC and Minister of Sports Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi at the inauguration of 11 newly elected board of the national federations.
The federation is now expected to comply with a new order where the NSC must be privy to information concerning request or sponsorship support for participation in international competitions or congresses at least six months in advance before such could be considered.

“We are aware that international sports calendar is prepared in such a way that it gives at least two years notice for sports events including congresses. Hence, request for support or sponsorship to international tournament/congress must be forwarded to the commission at least six months to the event,” said Abdullahi.
The inaugurated sports federations and the newly elected presidents are Acquatics, Babatunde Fatai- Williams; Boxing, Gen. KKT Minima; Cycling, Mohammed Nur Sherif; Golf, Dr Peter Deshi; Hockey, Abdul Ningi; Kick Boxing, Ishola Abubakar; Kung Fu, Tunji Light Ariyomo; Shooting, Wole Madariola; Scrabble, Gora Suleiman; Rugby, Fom Edward Pam; and Rowing and Yatching, Admiral Festus Porbeni (rtd).
