NBF- Only Best Boxers From the Eagles Belt Championship Will Make Glasgow 2014

The Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) is poised to ensure only the best boxers feature at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

NBF Secretary, Tunde Laguda, has said this year’s Eagles Belt slated for December will be used to select the country’s representatives for the Glasgow Games, which begins July 23 in Scotland.
Laguda said: “The event will present the opportunity for a scrutiny of the male and female boxers of 10 top-of-the-class qualities for the Games.
“We are making efforts to stage an event that will be better than the August National Open championship.

“The event is premised on the Glasgow Games, which to all intent and purposes is a big event; we have made appreciable marks in the sport, in the past.”
According to the NBF scribe, male boxers competing in the World Boxing Championship (WBC) would still be considered first at the Eagles Belt championship, which he stressed is open to only “the current best in all the 10 classes in boxing”.
“We are gunning for the very best,” Laguda added.
