Sambo Commends NIMC For Its Transparency

Vice President Namadi Sambo has commended the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for its transparent and diligent implementation of the scheme, harping on the importance of producing a national database of all Nigerians for economic planning, healthcare delivery, and educational development and security.
The Vice President spoke when he was enrolled by NIMC and issued the all-important National Identification Number (NIN) last week at the Council Chamber of the Conference room in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Chief of Staff to the President, Chief Mike Ogiadomhe, and the Special Adviser to the Vice President on Political Matters, Alhaji Abba Dabo, were also enrolled.

Responding to State House correspondents after he was enrolled, Ogiadomhe called on both the private and public sectors in the country to harmonise their activities involving biometric data capture, storage and retrieval instead of duplicating their functions.
“For the first time, we have a central database for all Nigerians on the issue of identity for security and business,” Ogiadomhe said.
On his part, Director General of NIMC, Mr. Chris Onyemenam, said the enrolment process has been tested and rolled out calling on all Nigerians to come out and enroll for their identity numbers. “It is designed and created to minimize human intervention,” he said.
