Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Anambra State, Chief Joe Martins Uzodike, has denied rumours that the relationship between Governor Peter Obi and the governor-elect, Chief Willie Obiano, has turned sour.
There were speculations that Obiano, who was hand-picked by Mr. Obi as his successor, had travelled abroad shortly after the governorship election last November to allow the governor have his way concerning the local government poll, which held last month, after advising him not to conduct it.
But debunking the rumour, Uzodike, who was speaking with reporters yesterday at Awka-Etiti in Idemili South Local Government, said it was a figment of the peddler’s imagination.
He described the originators of such speculations as enemies of the state.
According to him, “there is no rift between Obi and Obiano. Obiano has been requesting Obi to award many contracts, including the proposed Anambra Airport.
“Obiano did not travel abroad because of the conduct of the local government election. Rather, he travelled to rest, as is the practice in overseas”.
The commissioner then advised Obiano to close his ears against such speculations if he wants to succeed like Gov. Obi.
