House Demands Compensation For Nigerian Killed In India

House-of-Reps
The House of Representatives has called on the federal government to compel India to pay compensation to the family of a Nigerian murdered in cold-blood in the country.
It also called on the federal government to prevail on its Indian counterpart to tender an unreserved apology to the people and government of the country over the wanton killing of the Nigerian and the incarceration of 53 others who protested the killing.
The late Nigerian and five others were attacked and mobbed on October 31 in the Goa region of India by people suspected to be members of a drug cartel.
The resolution of the House followed a motion of urgent national interest raised by Hon. Yusuf Ayo Tajudeen representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency.
Tajudeen, who also sought for the unconditional release of those held in Indian prisons, demanded that future intimidation and harassment of Nigerians living in India should never be contemplated, just as he requested that the Indian government should foot the medical bills of the five persons that were injured.
